Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo Gorilla Lets Us See Baby [Ultrasound Photos]

placeholder image

A 22-year-old pregnant gorilla at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle allowed handlers to use an ultrasound to see the baby. This will be Akenji's first baby. Zoo staff worked with her prior to the pregnancy, so she knew what was involved in the ultrasound. Gestation for a gorilla is eight to nine months. She's expected to give birth in June or early July. This will be the father's third child. More photos here!
