No injuries are reported after a barge ran ashore in Gig Harbor, crashing into three homes. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says the barge ran ashore yesterday off Sunrise Beach Drive. Crews installed some emergency shoring to stabilize at least one of the homes. An investigation into the crash is ongoing. As of now, it looks like the tug boat operator, who was towing the barge, fell asleep.
One resident had set up a camera to record the morning sunrise and instead captured the collision.
