Jake Gyllenhaal to Play Mysterio in Next Spider-Man Film

The MCU version of Spider-Man might have the best casting agent of all time, because rumors are circulating that Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to portray the villain Mysterio in the next Spider-Man film.

While we don't know exactly when the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out, it's being reported that Michael Keaton might return as Vulture in the film as well!

Mysterio has never been in a Spider-Man film before, but he is one of the coolest villains Spidey has, especially if you watched the animated series as a kid. If you're not sure who Mysterio is, here is his brief synopsis:

A special effects expert, Quentin Beck uses his talents to create elaborate illusions to commit crimes and to fight Spider-Man should the occasion arise.

The even funnier thing is that this is Gyllenhaal's SECOND attempt to get into the "Spiderverse" because back in 2004 Gyllenhaal was considered to replace Tobey Maguire who had broken his back at the time.

Hopefully this time he gets to suit up for the first time as a part of a superhero film!
