Washington State Patrol troopers and Auburn police are working together after a small plane crashed in south King County Tuesday.

Trooper Rick Johnson posted on X at 11:57 a.m. that the "minor injury small plane crash" occurred on Auburn Way North near 40th Street NE. The Auburn Police Department (APD) said officers responded to the crash around 11:30 a.m. and found a single-engine plane that had crashed into a fence.

The department said, based off preliminary information, the pilot lost power after takeoff and was attempting to return to the airport at the time of the crash. The crash occurred a little more than a mile from the Auburn Municipal Airport.
