A car crash investigation led to Seattle Police arresting three people and recovering many stolen items, including thousands of dollars worth of LEGO sets.

Officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision in the 4700 block of 17th Avenue N around 3 p.m. Thursday (March 16). Cops arrived to find a Hyundai high-centered on the median. Witnesses told authorities they saw two men and a woman walking away from the wrecked car with garbage bags full of items.

Police confirmed the car was stolen out of Seattle and reached out to the people involved. Authorities arrested the three suspects based on witness descriptions and other evidence placing them at the crash site.

Upon further investigation, officers learned the suspects had several stolen merchandise and belongings, including IDs, credit cards, and LEGO sets worth $5,701 stolen from "large chain retail stores in the area."

Two of the suspects, a 20-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, were booked into the King County Jail for possession of stolen property and organized retail theft, according to police. The 48-year-old woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center for an issue unrelated to the crash. Officers will request charges for her associated crimes.
