The DP Open, an annual charity golf tournament in Seattle, was started in 2017 by a group of UW soccer alumni who suddenly lost one of their own, at a very young age, to sudden cardiac arrest. All proceeds from the tournament are donated to the Nick of Time Foundation, who offer heart health screenings to young people. The best way to detect these heart conditions is through a heart screening using an ECG (Electrocardiogram) and in some cases an Echocardiogram (ultrasound) of the heart.
