Want to learn how to get funding for your business, navigate startup culture, or find out more about starting and expanding a food business? The Seattle Public Library is offering free virtual workshops on each of these topics, and more, from its Library to Business program, this fall.
Whether you have a long-established business or are just beginning to plan a new business, The Seattle Public Library has great resources for you to use for free through the Library to Business program. We offer dozens of classes and workshops every year in partnership with local organizations, as well as free one-on-one consultations on all aspects of starting and running a business.
Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is required for each workshop, sign up via the Library's calendar.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
·Food Business Orientation-11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14. Got something cooking? Come learn about the requirements and regulations for opening or expanding a food business, with the City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development (OED). Additional dates on Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14.
·Identity Intelligence™ for the Entrepreneur-6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20. How to mentally prepare and navigate startup culture as a first-time entrepreneur.
·The Business of Community: Business Resource Open House-9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21. Let’s talk about how community builds our business and nonprofit sectors. What is the ecosystem that drives a healthy economic community? Help us dream and work toward an equitable relationship economy. Live in-language translation will be provided in Amharic, Mandarin, Spanish, Somali, and Vietnamese.
·How to Get Funding for Your Business-6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21. Learn about the different ways you can fund your business in this class.
·UW Entrepreneurial Law Clinic: Virtual Consult on Intellectual Property Law-4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. Does your small business or nonprofit need help navigating intellectual property issues, such as patents or trademarks? Registration for a specific session is required.
·Creating a Business Plan That Gets Funding for Your Business-6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. Come learn how to create a business plan that successfully gets your business funded in this hands-on workshop.
·Using Credit to Get Funding for Your Business-6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. Come learn how your credit plays a role in getting funding for your business.
·Equity and Belonging for the Entrepreneur-6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27. Start your startup with an equity and belonging lens by unpacking white identity.
·Family Life for the Entrepreneur-6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4. Insights and tips for balancing out entrepreneurship and family life!
·When to Hire A Lawyer-6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5. Nervous about the legal risks in starting a business? Gain insights on how a lawyer can help you navigate the early stages of starting a company.
