The Diaper Derby is an American tradition that dates back to the 1930’s and is commonly held at county fairs and halftime shows at basketball games. The rules are simple. The first baby to crawl to the finish line wins! Parents can use stuffed animals and toys to entice their baby.
Track President Phil Ziegler explains the motivation of holding the Diaper Derby, “We are always looking to entertain fans between our horse races. During the season we have a variety of entertaining races and promotions and everyone loves babies!”
The track plans on having two races with five babies in each on a specially designed racing surface. The top two finishes from each race will meet in the final crawl-off. All participants will receive a prize. Post time for the first horse race on Memorial Day is at 2 p.m.
