Seattle Librarian's List Of Must-Read Books For Black History Month

Books on bookshelves

By Lee Callahan

Anytime is a good time to pick up a book, and anytime, not just Black History Month, is a good time to pick up a book about the black experience. Or a book just featuring People of Color as main characters. My new go-to book source, el Evans, a librarian with the Seattle Public Library’s Downtown Region, recommends these gems:

K-3rd grade: Magnificent Homespun Brown

Grades 4 thru 6: The Magic in Changing Your Stars

Young adult: Charming As A Verb and Raybearer

Adult Fiction: Money Devils and Black Buck

Adult Nonfiction: Wayward Lives
