Winter Storm Uri Brings Ice And Snow Across Widespread Parts Of The Nation

The mayor of Colorado City, Texas, has resigned after backlash for a Facebook post calling residents "lazy" for complaining about power outages during frigid temperatures this week.

Part of the post said, "If you have no water you deal with out and think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family. If you were sitting at home in the cold because you have no power and are sitting there waiting for someone to come rescue you because your lazy is a direct result of your raising!"

Mayor Tom Boyd added, "Bottom line, quit crying and looking for a handout! Get off your a** and take care of your own family!"

Later in a separate post, Boyd said he quit his job as mayor and apologized, "for the wording and some of the phrases that were used" in his previous post.
